Jeff Bezos says that the beauty of using data to make and sell your point of view is that it gives equal standing to everyone and data is a great tool for junior staffers to use to empower themselves to sell and/or challenge the execs.
The best way to give yourself power is to assume that you have it in the first place and then use smart tools (data, input from real customers) to help achieve your objectives.
