It is common to hear magazines and newspapers claim that their business is suffering because the soft economy is causing businesses to spend less on advertising. Or, the web offers different and more timely ways for people to get news, which has caused readership to decline and businesses to shift advertising to the web.
Hmmm?
Here's a cure for the advertising problem: All newspapers and magazines have to do is prove that advertising in their properties actually produces a positive return on investment. If they could do that, brands would spend into infinity, right?
The headlines should read: Magazines & Newspapers Can't Prove that Advertising Works!
